Path Dependence

We discussed about this topic in class.
What does it mean to "Path Depencence"?
According to what I understand, it means that future consequences are somewhat unpredictable , because any varieties might occur during our working process.
If what I have understood is correct, is there no result under this characteristic of the theory??

Very glad to see you smartly pointing out the dilemma of "path dependence". You are correct that there will be little room for laws or fixed rules in theory if the starting points varies.
However, the emphasis is on the process, NOT the linear consequences as we most perceived. And how we pick up the "right" starting point for theory?
Let's discuss your nice point in the class.
